Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an better serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
